Letter from the CEO

Plans for the Future – Riding the Apple Tsunami!

by Robert Pritchett

August, the month this year for WWDC, the eventual unveiling of the next Mac OS X system, probably the finalization of the Apple computer line with desktop and server configuration updates and other neat Ôgotta-haveÕ stuff from Apple that drive non-Mac folks crazy with anticipation and pushes them over the brink into Maclandia.

The increase in the consumer-base for Mac products we wrote about nearly a year ago is Òon-trackÓ and we here at MPN, LLC are riding the tsunami Apple has created with their underground-swelling of ever-improving products. The, for now, unnamed one-trick-pony competition canÕt keep up! And that indeed is good for competition. Apple needs some to keep it on the innovative edge.

Meanwhile, what are we doing here to improve macCompanion? We re recuperating from the incredible participation from the macCompanion 4th Anniversary Celebration we had last month. Around 148 prizes were given away with well over $7,366 USD. And we did that on the Mac ReviewCast, not once, but twice, as we repurposed some gifts due to duplication. So in a way, even though there is no Òpaid subscriptionÓ to macCompanion, it pays to participate with us! For some, more than others, obviously.

Our deepest gratitude to those manufacturers, software developers and book publishers who pretty much spontaneously joined us to do the Ògift-awayÓ. They, along with names of those who received gifts, are prominently listed on the Gift List at http://www.maccompanion.com/GiftList.html

This was just a way-cool way of offering our gratitude to you, our readers and listeners in the middle of this pre-WWDC blazing-hot summer.

What else is going on?

We added more writers to this ÒReaderÕs Digest of MacdomÓ, macCompanion. We think you will like what they have done and will be doing with the Mac-azine. The magazine will continue to grow and expand readership.

We are changing the macCompanion logo.

We will be adding more advertisers, to help pay the bills.

We added the Ultralingua word-translation function to all pages of the website, including the Blog.

We moved the Forum to Mac-Headz.

We will be massaging the website, so you can add comments and feedback online (real-time interaction) and we will also be working up an online questionnaire and feedback form, so we can do a better job meeting your needs, while still working on better ways to monetize the magazine. WeÕd like to keep it free to you, our readers, but we do have bills to pay too.

Please keep Òspreading the wordÓ about us, so we can get to our goal of 3 million page views per month by year-end. If you think our effort s are worth the bother, than others will too.

Meanwhile, please visit our affiliates, online stores, advertisers, etc., and purchase something. Every little bit helps and we do get one or two percentage points or so per purchase. It adds up after a while!

Come join the Apple Tsunami and ÒHang 10Ó!
