iPowerRush – iProduct Battery Backup
Reviewed by Robert Pritchett
Introduction
"Compatible with all Apple
iDevices (iPod, iPhone, iTouch), the iPowerRush will increase the run time of
your iProduct by 10 to 15 hours. Powered by 6 AAA batteries (not included) and
equipped with a power on/ off slide switch the iPowerRush also sports a cool
push button power indicator that tells you how much reserve is left in the
unit. Coast to coast or shore to shore, just pop in 6 new AAA batteries and
you're good to go! Anywhere, anytime. Never be without a Power Rush for your
iDevice again.
The uniqueness of the iPowerrush is
in its power source. It runs on six AAA batteries and provides instant power on
for the iPhone while recharging the iPhone's internal battery at a rate of 50%
capacity in just less than one hour. Most importantly, the iPowerRush delivers
an unprecedented 500ma of current. This fact is what sets iPowerRush apart from
all other chargers on the market. By utilizing two sets of three batteries and
then regulating the output voltage iPowerRush supplies the current and voltage
other backup units cannot.
The iPowerRush naturally
comes with a push-button Power Gauge and separate off/on Slider switch. An
automatic limitation circuit prevents overcharging the device. The unit's slim
design (2" by 3 5/8" by 1/2") somewhat resembles Apple's Nano
and yet makes it extremely portable.
Apple estimates the iPhone battery
can accommodate up to eight hours of talk time, six hours of Internet use,
seven hours of video playback, 24 hours of audio and 240 hours of standby time.
It's estimated that iPowerRush extends talk time by four hours, Internet use by
three, video by 3.5, audio by 14 and standby by 120 hours."
What I Learned
There is not a whole lot to this add-on device. It's small.
It's simple. It's plastic. It does require 6 AAAs. The on-off switch works. It
does plug into the Dock port on iApple devices.
It is a
must-have when you run out of juice and you are out in the middle of
nowhere-land.
Conclusions
This is one of those "I wished I'd thought of
that" devices that ought to go into any kit bag for road warriors who have
to be "plugged in" at all times and the iDevices don't have instant
access (read USB) to getting repowered. It's cheap insurance.
