Letter From the Editor

After MacWorld 2005

by Robert Pritchett

Welcome to the February issue of macCompanion!

I think 2006 will be full of wonderful surprises besides the latest revelations that came from the Reality Distortion Field we see each year at MacWorld San Francisco. Meanwhile, take a look at what we love to talk about.

Covering the Articles

Not everyone could attend MacWorld, so we did the next best thing. We did what we do best - do reviews so you don’t have to.

  • In Nothings Perfect, I discuss the issues regarding chip technology errata, the inspiration derived from the Yin/Yang and Tai Chi symbology for the Universal Logo usage by Apple and their trademark submittal for MACTEL.
  • Jonathan Hoyle talks about the cross-platform development app, Runtime Revolution.
  • Gene Steinberg discusses what can be done to improve Rosetta performance.
  • Daphne Kalfon gets plugged into audio effects and Garageband.
  • Steve Stanger offers an electrifying article about power protection.
  • Christopher Duncan says anything worth doing is worth doing well.
  • Joseph Nilo gives us a view of Vidcasting.
  • Tim Verpoorten offers us the best of the best freeware for the Mac he discovered recently.
  • Leland Scott fights back about iTunes being spyware.
  • Harry {Doc} Babad provides some Mac tips from around the Internet.
  • Ted Bade reports on MacWorld Expo and the future.

Than we have a few of our Book Reviews, an article on Kodak's Prosumer 8 megapixel camera, flash adapter and companion photo-printer.

In the Software Reviews section, Ted Bade reviewed The Print Shop and Mike Swope tells us a thing or two about the iWeb competitor, RapidWeaver.

And we finish up with an article on the online Latin-American Spanish version of RosettaStone, a follow-up article of our review of security system software we did in December on remote camera software, this time one named SecuritySpy and present the Toon Boom Studio V3 drawing app designed to work with Wacom tablets.

After going through our reviews, why not stop by our website and visit our affiliates and buy a few things so we can keep giving you macCompanion for free? And keep spreading the word about us! We would like to see over 3 million page views per month.

It should come as no surprise that we love you and what you do for us. Thank you!
